The Original Goodie Shop has been baking at 2116 Tremont Center since 1955. Two of the newest places to get coffee and something sweet in Upper Arlington opened this year, and neither went near it. Coffee + Cone opened on the Historic Mallway in January. Fox in the Snow opened on West Lane Avenue in July.
Each of the three fits a different kind of stop, and their hours point to different parts of the day. Tremont Center has the bakery counter where you leave with a box, the Mallway has a grab-and-go shop with a few seats, and Lane Avenue has a café that locks up at 3 p.m. So the morning run no longer has a default. Which district you head to depends on the hour and on what you plan to carry home.
The Original Goodie Shop is a full-service bakery. Its case holds donuts, cookies, cakes, pastries, breads and dinner rolls. It also takes custom cake and cookie orders for birthdays, weddings and other celebrations. Sisters Miranda and Emilie Smith run it now, the third generation of the family that opened it. The shop marked its 70th anniversary in 2025.
The cinnamon sticks are the signature item. In its October 8 business spotlight, the City of Upper Arlington called them "soft, sweet and covered in cinnamon and sugar." The same spotlight calls the bakery "a familiar stop for a Saturday morning donut run, a birthday cake picked up before a celebration or, of course, a few cinnamon sticks to take home." Each item on that list leaves the building with you. This is the stop you make when you're bringing food somewhere else.
That matters more as the holidays get closer. The shop's product list includes pies, dinner rolls and cinnamon rolls along with the cinnamon sticks. Holiday ordering details for 2026 aren't posted yet. If Thanksgiving on November 26 is on your mind, call the counter well ahead.
Coffee + Cone sits at 1966 North Mallway Drive. An Upper Arlington resident, Alyssa Litzinger, opened it in January 2026. The menu has two halves. Specialty coffee from Columbus roaster One Line Coffee shares the counter with matcha, chai and premium soft serve. The affogato pours espresso over vanilla soft serve and joins the two.
According to the city's September 10 spotlight, the honey whipped cream became a customer favorite fast. The strawberry matcha and pistachio latte each built a following too. A less expected item on the menu is waffle chip "nachos."
The size is deliberate. The city describes Coffee + Cone as "designed primarily as a grab-and-go destination" with "a handful of seats." It's meant to slot into a day as "a quick coffee before work, a stop after school or a sweet treat during a walk through the Mallway." Those three moments are spread across the day, and the menu follows them. Coffee covers the morning and soft serve covers the afternoon. Tremont Center is the box stop. The Mallway is the five-minute stop, and it's the only one of the three that sells an after-school soft serve.
Fox in the Snow opened its Upper Arlington café on July 11, 2026. Columbus Underground reported that it took over the space left by Roll Bicycle Co., which closed in 2024. It's the chain's seventh location and its second opening of 2026, after Clintonville. Founders Lauren Culley and Jeff Excell opened the first one in Italian Village in 2014. The first 300 people in line on opening day got free T-shirts.
The hours make it a morning-and-lunch café. It's open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends. If you leave the house at 3:30, the Lane Avenue door is already locked. Fox in the Snow's locations page gives the address as 1514 W. Lane Avenue, while the July opening coverage listed 1510. The café's own listing is the one to put in your map app.
Lane Avenue already had a bakery-café before Fox arrived. Paris Baguette opened at 1369 W. Lane Ave. in April 2025 and held its grand-opening celebration on April 26 that year. Since July, that stretch of Lane Avenue has had two bakery-cafés.

| Great Harvest | 4723 Reed Road | Long-standing | Bread, cinnamon rolls, scones | Posted hours Tuesday to Friday 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. |
Great Harvest on Reed Road is a fifth option with longer posted hours. Its store page lists bread, cinnamon rolls and scones, and it's open until 6:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. All of these hours come from the businesses and from opening coverage, and they can change around the holidays. Check before a special trip.
The next six weeks give two of these districts a scheduled event to pair with a coffee stop.
The Upper Arlington Public Library's Fall 2026 book sale runs November 8 through 15 in the atrium of the Tremont Road Branch, 2800 Tremont Road. The details from the library's Fall 2026 LibraryLink guide:
The same branch has a Thanksgiving Craft in Meeting Room B on Friday, November 13 at 2 p.m. and again on Saturday, November 21 at 11 a.m. A Saturday trip on Tremont Road can include a craft table and a box from Tremont Center.
The bigger date belongs to the Mallway. The City of Upper Arlington's Winter Festival and community holiday tree lighting is on Friday, December 4, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Mallway Park, 2096 Arlington Avenue. The details are on the city's event listing. That puts the city's holiday tree lighting on the Mallway, the same district as Coffee + Cone at 1966 North Mallway Drive. Fox in the Snow will have been closed for three hours by the time the festival starts at 6 p.m., so if you want a warm drink in hand for the lighting, check Coffee + Cone's December hours before you go.
If you have a cinnamon stick order placed and the tree-lighting date saved, you already know Upper Arlington the way buyers want it explained. When it's time to put your own place on Tremont, Lane or the Mallway in front of them, Angel Perez and the Perez Team can tell that story for you. Start with a free home valuation.
